Crescent Towing and Cooper/T. Smith Mooring would like to acknowledge all of the hard work and dedication put forth during Hurricane Ida, especially in the days and weeks following the storm. As they have done so many times before, Crescent Towing mariners and CTS Mooring linemen stood watch as they told evacuating family members goodbye; all the while working heroically through the storm by tending lines, holding in and standing by vessels, and keeping watch over and working with ships that were directly in the path of the storm.
Once Hurricane Ida passed, Crescent Towing and CTS Mooring crews worked to clear the Mississippi River and its banks from storm debris and displaced barges. Furthermore, damage from the storm crippled the region’s infrastructure and created challenges for staff, both on and off the water, especially for the employees that sustained damage to their homes. Despite all of the major challenges in the days and weeks after Ida, Crescent Towing and CTS Mooring remained fully operational – fully crewed tugboats were maintained and repaired, mooring crews stood at the ready for orders, dispatchers and office personnel continued their important work, groceries and supplies continued to be dispersed to crews, and mariners were able to continue to operate safely without any significant interruptions.
None of this could have happened without the support from colleagues and friends in Mobile and Savannah for sending aid and supplies, making accommodations, and sending well wishes and encouragement in the days and weeks following the storm. This was truly a team effort and something to be proud of. Way to go, Cooper/T. Smith Mooring and Crescent Towing Teams!
